    That beats 10 Lutons!

    Luton vans.

Been watching YouTube videos of the large 4x4's. One of them, and not that big, a Merc was 417.000 Euros. And very cheerfully the commentator said you could get a suspension upgrade for 90.000 Euros. I orbit a different planet.

    Luton vans.

A very good reason, not being able to register as a camper van would put me off. Do you think with the new DVLA conditions that make a lot of van conversions not qualify as camper vans but as vans with windows will make the Luton more appealing, if the builder doesn’t mind not getting into the...

    Luton vans.

When I was looking I there were a few Luton’s for sale locally, but nobody seemed to be building campers from them, so I thought there must be a reason, so I ignored them. When I’m in the builders merchant’s I’m now looking for timber with a curve that works in the van. I’m getting good at it.

    Luton vans.

Why don't we build more campervans in Luton box vans? Having been wrestling with the walls of my Boxer, I thought it would be a lot easier with straight walls. Hence the reason for the question?

    Truma boiler altro flooring.

Hi, I have bought a Truma 6E boiler. It says not to have any combustible flooring under the boiler. The YouTube videos I have been following have either Altro flooring or some other type of decorative flooring under the boiler. It is going to be easier for me to fit the Truma unit over the...

Updated Conversion Regs From 21 October 19. Graphics And Awning Now Required.

I live a few miles from DVLA central and in the past I have taken a motorcycle trike to them for them to check that it complied to their rules. I also took a trike to a VOSA centre for them to inspect. I am quite happy for them to check my work and the finished results.

Chris, got this from the DVLA: it can be an awning rail. They said it would be satisfactory. I’m fixing a rail, I have bought an awning (before the changes) and am going to Sikaflex the rail to the van. Why they would use the term ‘awning bar’ that doesn’t exist in the camper van world can be...

Thinking of buying a Eberspacher D4E Hydronic system.

Thanks Gary, I need all the help I can get. I will remember the 4mm cable. I really like heat so will place the air temp monitor ‘outside‘.

Thinking of buying a Eberspacher D4E Hydronic system.

Gary, yes originally I was looking for a combined system run on diesel. I saw a system at the NEC show and I was very impressed with it particularly because it was mainly fitted under the van. I was less impressed with the £2100 price. Since this posting I have been directed by another forum...

Thinking of buying a Eberspacher D4E Hydronic system.

Contacted John McK 47 earlier and he confirmed that you can fit these under the van but give them some protection. I will do that and I'm going to fit a webasto water heater again under the van.

Thinking of buying a Eberspacher D4E Hydronic system.

I’m looking to fit it under the van, Eberspacher’s own brand can be fitted outside but I don’t know about the others. Once I have watched all the series by John McK 47 if this is not brought up, I will contact him.

Thinking of buying a Eberspacher D4E Hydronic system.

Sandbagsid, thanks for posting. There’s a brilliant series on the Chinese copies of the Eberspacher by a man called John McK 47. There’s loads of them but he covers all aspects of these units. He deals with servicing and dismantling the units. Well worth viewing. I haven’t got to the end yet.

Sandbagsid, thanks, with the weather we have that won’t be difficult. Do you have this system in your van

Thinking of buying a Eberspacher D4E Hydronic system.

I saw this system at the Motorhome and Caravan Show. It looks good it was pretty expensive in the show £2100 but I’ve seen it since at under £1500. This makes it competitive to the Truma system. For me the advantages of Eberspacher is that most of it is under the van. The main criticism of this...

Updated Conversion Regs From 21 October 19. Graphics And Awning Now Required.

I’m new to camper vans and never had a caravan, I’m building this as ‘something to do’ and I will use it next year (I have Camp Quirky tickets) but coming from a motorcycle and having ridden many times in Europe I don’t know if I’m going to like it, health issues resulted in me giving up riding...

Updated Conversion Regs From 21 October 19. Graphics And Awning Now Required.

Being a bit concerned about the “high top roof” I spoke to DVLA a few moments ago. Told them I was a H2 height roof. The guy on the phone had to clarify my question with the relevant dept. He came back to me with “each application will be dealt with on a case by case basis”. I’m thinking that my...
